Located in the Twin Cities, Emily has been a passionate advocate for traditionally underserved students and is consistently working toward transformational system change to remove barriers to opportunity and achievement. In 2016, Emily – along with Jesus Ramirez – developed and facilitated Summer Academy, a three-week transition program for incoming ninth graders that focuses on literacy, social justice, community engagement, and the arts.

Over the course of her 13-year career, Emily has been a teacher leader and has designed and facilitated professional development at the local, state, and national levels on a variety of topics, primarily focusing on Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and engaging, enlightening, and empowering instruction. Emily is currently a Teachers for Global Classrooms fellow and will be centering her studies on education in Colombia.
